Settling Into a New Year: Growth, Healing, and Intentions

Deconstruction Divorce Grief Loss Motherhood Parenting after loss

This New Years felt different for me. There was no rushing to craft resolutions or setting lofty goals. Instead, it felt like a significant moment—a deep ‘settling in.’ Settling into myself, my journey, and all the ways my life has shifted in the past few years.

A Journey of Transformation

The past five years have brought immense change, profound loss, and bittersweet growth. As a single co-parent to three earth-side kiddos, I’ve navigated life’s complexities with as much grace as I could muster. There’s been recurrent miscarriage, the shift from a partnered life to a solo one, and the unraveling of an identity I thought was fixed.

These experiences have reshaped me—bringing heartache and strength, endings and beginnings. I’ve lost friends and gained chosen family. I’ve wrestled with my singleness, started new business ventures, and grown in ways I never expected. And while it’s been a lot, it’s also been transformative.

This year, I’m leaning into the person I’m becoming. The version of me that embraces life’s dichotomies with tenderness and curiosity.

Intentions for the Year Ahead

Rather than resolutions, I’m focusing on guiding intentions—gentle anchors to keep me grounded as I continue to heal and grow. Here’s what I’m prioritizing:

  • Growth: In my healing journey, my business, and my relationships. I want to continue expanding—as a parent, a friend, and a human.

  • Tenderness: I’m learning to hold myself and my wounds with the care they deserve. Healing isn’t linear, and I want to approach it with gentleness.

  • Curiosity: Life is filled with questions. Why do we do the things we do? How can we love better, listen more, and hold space for one another? This year, I’m embracing curiosity as a tool for deeper connection.

  • Gentleness: With myself, my children, and those around me. I’m committing to speaking softly, correcting mindfully, and replacing frustration with understanding.

  • Kindness: To others and to myself. How can I make kindness an integral part of everything I do? This question will guide me as I move through the year.

A Turning Page

As the calendar turns, I feel like a new chapter is beginning in both my personal and professional life. There will be ups and downs, moments of clarity and uncertainty, but I’m ready. I’m ready to keep healing, keep growing, and keep settling into this version of me.

An Invitation to Reflect

What about you? What are you looking forward to this year? If you’re navigating a season of loss or change, know that you don’t have to do it alone. Whether you’re walking through pregnancy loss, divorce, or leaving behind a version of yourself that no longer fits, there’s space for you here. Let’s reclaim our lives—one intentional step at a time.
